Dublin Editors
I founded Dublin Editors in 2013 with two friends, John Murphy & Derek Holland, to address what we saw as a lack of community amongst editors living and working in Dublin. Initially we viewed it as a social gathering, but quickly realised that to be a success we needed to offer more than just nights out in the pub. We hosted our first In Conversation event in October of that year. Since then we have continued to grow and expand: with the support of Screen Ireland we have invited editors from overseas to come and talk with us, and to date we have held thirty eight in-person events. As personnel changed in the intervening years I remain the constant link to that first night, and have conducted over thirty of the interviews.
During lockdown in 2020 we hosted a spin-off series called Remote Access, one of the first of its kind, and over three months I interviewed international editors for an increasingly international audience.
The burgeoning sense of community created by Dublin Editors led to conversations that ultimately resulted in the formation of the Irish Screen Editors guild in 2019.
